This post is a rough guide to what we know on the Ashley Williams saga.
Firstly, twitter provided rumours that City, Reading and Blackburn were chasing the Welshman, then, twitter rumours once again, reported that the the Robins were leading the race ahead of ‘several clubs’ to sign Williams on a 12 month contract. Several news sites then picked up on the story and he was apparently set to sign.
At the Tuesday night game against Derby at Pride Park the 34 year was seen in a full silver tracksuit with the new club badge on it. After the game manager Lee Johnson spoke to the Bristol Post on Williams:
”The situation with Ashley is that there’s nothing definite. We’ve had him in and we’ve tested him,
We’ve had a look at him and he’s had a look at us. Both have got to make a decision.
We haven’t gone into negotiations or anything like that. His body fat’s good.
I said to him you’re not on trial but your hips are on trial. After all the testing we’ve done we’ll just see where we are.
We’re quite relaxed about it. We’ll see where we get to at the back end of the week,” explained the head coach.
Two days on and no more has developed.
