With Gary Hooper supposedly heading of to play football in Iran and Wilfried Bony links being turned town by the Bristol Post, the Robins seem to have turned to a new option. His name is Uche Ikpeazu. Ikpeazu is a striker, currently at Hearts and currently has 2 goals and 2 assists in the 6 matches he has played so far in the Scottish Premiership.
The Robins may now be willing to wait until January to sign a striker (after Afobe’s return to Stoke after injury) with Famara Diedhiou impressing in a 1-0 win with Reading. 24 year old Ikpeazu is the new name put in the frame for Bristol City as we beleive he has been scouted by the club more than once since Benik Afobe’s injury. The international break could be the perfect time for Mark Ashton and co to discuss this possible signing, after Antoine Semenyo has not given an imediate impact for the club.
Unfortunately the Robins will have competition for the Englishmen. Celtic and Rangers were both waying up his signing in the summer and may continue to do so in the coming window, while QPR are also interested. He may favour a move to BS3 over one to Celtic for instance, as Ikpeazu grew up, and still has family, in England. We are unsure how interested Lee Johnson is in signing the 24 year old, however he is a name in the frame.
