An end could have been finally put to the confusing striker transfer signing that Lee Johnson had aimed for. Spanish striker Rodri has put pen to paper on a deal until January with the option to be extended. Rodri will provide competition and cover for Famara Diedhiou and Antoine Semenyo after Benik Afobe’s ACL injury. At 29 Rodri has experience at several levels of the game.
Lee Johnson’s reaction to the signing:
He told BCFC.co.uk: “We’d like to welcome Rodri and his family to Bristol City.”
“We want to play with two strikers as much as possible and therefore we need four strikers as an option.”
“He’s proved himself in Spanish football and we are looking forward to working with him.
“While this is an initial short-term arrangement, we hope it works out for him and ourselves in the long term.”
Opinion:
Pleased with this signing. Will be a good experienced addition for us. Always needed another strIker since Benik’s injury. Good signs.
